What can appear on an invoice
Every invoice lists each tax, surcharge and fee as its own line with the rate or amount applied, below the service lines. The amounts depend on your practice’s registered address and on the mix of services on the account.
- Federal Universal Service Fund (USF) contribution, passed through at the FCC quarterly contribution factor
- State and local 911 / E911 fees, per line per month, set by each state or locality
- State and local telecommunications and sales taxes where they apply
How each is calculated
Federal USF: telecommunications providers, including interconnected VoIP providers, contribute a percentage of their interstate and international revenue to the Universal Service Fund. The FCC sets the contribution factor every quarter. We pass it through on the portion of your charges that counts as interstate telecommunications; it is not charged on software-only items.
911 and E911 fees: states, counties and cities set a flat monthly fee per line or per number to fund emergency services. The fee for your address is applied to each voice line on the account.
State and local taxes: telecommunications excise taxes, communications services taxes and sales taxes apply at the rates for your address where the state treats VoIP service or equipment as taxable. Desk phones are taxed as goods where sales tax applies.
Where you hold a valid exemption certificate, email it to billing@zentryvoice.com and we apply it from the next invoice.
Estimates before you pay
The order summary you confirm before paid service starts shows estimated taxes and fees for your address alongside the recurring and one-time charges. Your first invoice shows the exact amounts.
Changes
Government rates change on their own schedule; the USF factor changes quarterly. We apply changes when they take effect and do not treat them as price changes under the Terms. We will never introduce a company-set recovery fee without 30 days’ notice and an update to this page.
